KNB chairman in BNR Business: accelerated measures
"If a notary is involved with third-party funds, that's a mortal sin. You don't belong in the notarial profession," said KNB chair Annerie Ploumen on Monday's radio program "BNR Zakendoen" (Doing Business). She was a guest there to discuss, among other things, the fraud at Pels Rijcken.
She expressed her shock and stated that she wanted to implement accelerated reforms within the notarial profession. Notaries have been urged to update their secondary employment records. This is mandatory. This allows the Royal Netherlands Association of Civil-Law Notaries (KNB) and the Financial Supervision Office (BFT) to review these reports. They will now do this annually. In addition, the KNB is identifying notaries registered as sole directors of foundations. The KNB is also working on new financial regulations that will be presented to members this fall.
The broadcast is available for replay. The segment starts at 24:40.
