Health and well-being

Every week, 10 people in the Netherlands die from ALS. The Dutch ALS Foundation cannot and will not accept this. It advocates for ALS patients and is determined to end this dehumanizing disease. Together with donors, activists, and business partners, we can make a difference for 1,500 patients in the Netherlands. Thanks in part to the enthusiastic encouragement of the director of the ALS Foundation, we are eager to continue the fight that Weert-Jan Weerts has demonstrated so relentlessly through his efforts on behalf of the ALS Foundation. During the Amsterdam City Swim, we will be swimming through the canals of Amsterdam against ALS.

Along with many others, we raised over €1,500,000 by participating in the Africa Classic for Amref Flying Doctors. Amref Flying Doctors, the largest healthcare organization in Africa, has been committed to better health in Africa for over 60 years. Everyone has the right to a healthy and safe life. For many girls and young women in East Africa, this is not a given. That's why Amref Flying Doctors tackles problems like poverty and gender inequality. Amref aims to ensure that people have equal rights and can claim them, so that problems like teenage pregnancy, female genital mutilation, and the continued practice of child marriage can be prevented.

With an annual donation, we make a modest contribution to all the good the Kika Foundation stands for. This foundation strives to increase the chance of recovery from childhood cancer, improve the quality of treatment, and reduce side effects after treatment.

The Pancreatic Cancer Survivors Foundation (hereinafter: the Foundation) was established in the fall of 2015 to raise awareness of this serious form of cancer and to raise funds for innovative research into new treatments for pancreatic cancer. The Foundation has ANBI status and has been recognized as a charity by the CBF (Central Bureau for Fundraising) since May 2016.

The Foundation funds research into immunotherapy and virotherapy that aims to effectively treat pancreatic cancer in an innovative way. One of these initiatives is led by Prof. Dr. Casper van Eyck, surgeon and professor of pancreatic cancer at Erasmus MC. In recent years, he has seen no substantial change in research and no improvement for patients. It was time, as Casper himself puts it, "to think outside the box." Van Eyck assembled a multidisciplinary team for this purpose, including virologists, molecular biologists, and neurosurgeons from Erasmus MC, Leiden University Medical Center, UMC Utrecht, and Amsterdam UMC. This team is developing methods that no longer focus on the disease itself, but on the patient's strength and ability to use their own body against the malignant tumor.

In November 2015, a group of friends of a deceased patient launched the Support Casper campaign for him and his team; a campaign to make viroimmunotherapy possible. In 2016, this campaign was incorporated into the Foundation. Since then, under the name Support Casper, a small but incredibly passionate team has been working to realize a dream: halting the devastating effects of pancreatic cancer.

MAES notaries support Casper. Will you join us? We'd love to tell you how you can support us: through a bequest, a legacy, a one-time donation, a recurring gift, a named fund, or otherwise. This allows assets to be used for patient research and treatment and doesn't end up unused in our national treasury as inheritance tax.

We are members of the Schippersclub, a group of entrepreneurs who are passionate about the Waterpoort Foundation and who selflessly offer boating experiences to vulnerable groups.

Waterpoort Vlaardingen is a mooring and information facility on the Vlaardingse Vaart canal, Broekkade 3 in Vlaardingen. It's rightfully the water gateway within the recreational gateways to Midden-Delfland and a recreational reception area at the entrance to the Broekpolder. The mooring facility is home to the floating visitor center, aboard the historic Hagenaar Theodora. This originally sailing cargo ship owes its hull design to the sailing area for which it was originally built. The ship features various audiovisual presentations, an onboard library with information about the Broekpolder and Midden-Delfland, and a unique B&B (Boat & Bed) in the old skipper's cabin aft. Aboard the ship, you can not only explore the area's activities but also rent an electric sloop and an open sailboat. The project is not-for-profit, but aims to maintain its socially responsible approach while maintaining its cost-effectiveness.

Sport

We attach great importance to sports. Sports connect and unite. It requires teamwork. Sports teach you how to deal with winning and losing. It requires ambition, practice, lots of practice, and perseverance. Sports contribute to our mental and physical well-being. We therefore gladly support athletes with the ambition to achieve something special and the clubs that facilitate them in this.

A healthy lifestyle is important; more and more people are becoming more health-conscious. We believe that a healthy lifestyle should be accessible to everyone. We encourage our own employees to work quickly and effectively on their health, and for that reason, we actively collaborate with Go Health in the region.

GoHealth offers an accessible way for everyone to work on their health. Ease of use, efficiency, and personal attention are key. Find one of the clubs near you in Amsterdam, Oegstgeest, Ridderkerk, Rijnsburg, Rotterdam, and Vlaardingen.

We regularly play at Broekpolder Golf Club. Broekpolder is a polder west of the Vlaardingervaart canal in the municipalities of Vlaardingen and Midden-Delfland. The members of the "old Rotterdam" club had long desired an 18-hole golf course, but lacked the space in Kralingen. In 1981, they decided to establish Broekpolder Golf Club and build a course in the raised Broekpolder polder. Broekpolder Golf Club is now part of the "Old Nine": a network of nine traditional, beautiful club golf courses in the Netherlands.

HC Rotterdam, HCR, or Hockey Club Rotterdam, founded on September 16, 1925, is the largest hockey club in the Netherlands and one of the largest in the world, with approximately 2,500 members, including 1,700 youth members, spread over more than 200 teams.

HCR's Men's 1 team competes at the highest level, and its Women's 1 team competes at the second-highest level. It is the most successful hockey club in the Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Area and one of the most successful in the Netherlands.

HC Rotterdam has its own hockey stadium with a maximum capacity of 8,000 spectators on Hazelaarweg in Schiebroek, near Rotterdam The Hague Airport and around the corner from Hillegersberg. This is one of the largest hockey stadiums in the world.

MAES Notarissen displays an LED banner on the boarding of the stadium's main pitch during matches and hopes to make a modest contribution to the well-being and performance of all players and their families involved with the club through sponsorship. We do this, among other things, by providing notarial services to players and their families through our " Goed-voor-elkaar" (Good for Each Other) social discount program , which allows them to save considerably.

Hockey Combinatie Schiedam, founded in 2016, is a merger between SSV Asvion and SH Spirit. Both clubs were founded in 1936. With over 1,350 members, HC Schiedam ranks among the larger hockey clubs in the Netherlands. The facility at Olympiaweg 63 (Sportpark Harga in Schiedam) consists of a state-of-the-art clubhouse, six artificial turf fields, including four water-based fields, and an additional mini-field.

MAES Notaries will be a visible sponsor throughout the season with an advertising board at field 1 and will be a clothing sponsor for HCS JO14-2.

We are members of the Business Club of Eredivisie club Sparta Rotterdam. We also support the red-and-white football club by increasing the visibility of MAES notaries among the football-loving public on the over 100-meter-long LED boarding ON TV during Sparta's home games at Het Kasteel.

Sportcentrum Vlaardingen is a multifunctional leisure centre for exercise and relaxation, open seven days a week.

Polderpoort is a center located in the Broekpolder nature reserve, where sports, catering and recreational activities are facilitated.

Athletes training at Sportcentrum Vlaardingen or Polderpoort will regularly see the MAES Notaries logo and the slogan "Goed-voor-elkaar" (Good for each other) displayed on the fitness equipment. We hope that through sponsorship, we can make a modest contribution to the well-being and performance of all members involved with the club and their families. We do this, among other things, by providing notarial services to members and their families through our social Goed-voor-elkaar discount program, which can save them considerable money.

The history of SV CWO dates back to 1920, when employees of the Hollandia dairy founded a football club. At the time, they consisted of 12 players, but without a pitch, so they could only play away games. As a member of the CWO business club, we sponsor this wonderful club because CWO's vision is based on the pillars of football, organization, and social value, and because we want all players and supporters to enjoy great and sporting home games.

The Ocean Race is held every three years. This sailing competition around the world is considered the world's toughest team race. The race consists of several legs and lasts eight to nine months. The boats will depart from Alicante on January 15th and will arrive in The Hague/Scheveningen from June 15th to 17th, 2023. We're looking forward to it and are going to make it a big party with our guests.

In addition to the main sponsor, Janssen de Jong Groep, and Batenburg Techniek, the following parties have joined the team as partners: Uijthoven, Koffiepartners, Lingotto, Urban Interest, Cocon Vastgoed, MARK, GEVA Vastgoed, Bakkers | Hommen, MAES notarissen, Sunrock, Royal Huisman, Anfora Development Design, Newday, and Schouten Zekerheid.

We sponsor Tennisvereniging Holy, an active tennis club for all ages, both competitive and recreational. Where you can play tennis year-round on all-weather courts. Where you can dream and train to become as good as Roger Federer, the Swiss MAEStro.

VMHC Pollux is a small, friendly hockey club in Vlaardingen, where young and old feel at home. A club with dedicated members and parents. Truly a true family club! And they've been for over 80 years.

Starting in the 2022-23 season, MAES Notaries will have a visible presence during matches on canvas along three fields at VMHC Pollux. We hope that through sponsorship, we can make a modest contribution to the well-being and performance of all players involved with the club and their families. We also do this by providing notarial services to players and their families through our social "Goed-voor-elkaar" (Good for Each Other) discount program . This can save them considerable money.

VLTC is a Vlaardingen tennis club for all ages, recreational and competitive. You can play tennis year-round at VLTC on its seven LED-lit smash courts.

Children can also have a great time at our tennis park. Besides the practice wall and mini court, the club has a small playground and a children's corner in the clubhouse where the youngest can draw or play games to their heart's content.

Culture

By traveling the world, we learn about and better understand other cultures and different kinds of people. We are inspired. Art and culture define the identity of a person, a group, a people, and a country. We also see, close to home, what art and culture can mean for young and old.

The Kroepoekfabriek is the pop venue just outside Rotterdam. It's happening every week. Concerts and club nights for music lovers. Hip-hop, metal, indie, singer-songwriter, rock 'n' roll, pop, or any other genre. From obscure to mega-hits and from (very) old to brand new: you'll find it there. Whether you're young or old.

The Stadsgehoorzaal Vlaardingen has undergone impressive development in recent years. We are a member of the Club of 200. This is a group of dedicated businesses and individuals who together form a strong network for the Stadsgehoorzaal and donate annually to further enhance its success and ensure it remains a vibrant venue for the city.

We are therefore sponsoring—very modestly, but with love—both performances by the daring cabaret artist Karin Bloemen at the Stadsgehoorzaal on Friday, September 18, 2020. Bloemen returns to her first love: singing. Inspired by singers Billie Holiday and Aretha Franklin, and the swinging funk, jazz, and soul sounds of the Old School Band, she creates a brand-new, pure, and musical show full of her own pieces and the finest covers from this rich repertoire.

Aretha Franklin should be your inspiration too; but only for the reason that you arrange your affairs properly and on time with the notary. Read how that went terribly wrong for her and how you can get it right: https://maesnotarissen.nl/you-better-think .

Where the backyard of a house on Hoge Nieuwstraat once stood, Theater Diligentia has stood since the 17th century: the cabaret stage of The Hague.

The small PePijn theater, located behind Denneweg, with its rich history, is a familiar rehearsal venue for renowned comedians and an inspiring platform for emerging talent. With its retro vibe, cabaret library, record player, and extensive vinyl collection, this unique meeting place in the Residentie has become an indispensable part of the Dutch cabaret scene.

MAES Notarissen is a friend of Diligentia and Theater PePijn. This way, we make a modest contribution to the future of the genre and support the cultural sector. And that gives us access to fantastic performances.

We are a member of the Rembrandt Association. Dutch public art collections are home to an enormous wealth. Many people take these rich holdings in Dutch museums for granted, but these art treasures didn't come about by chance. Many of these works can only be seen there thanks to the generosity and commitment of private art lovers, such as those united in the Rembrandt Association. We share with other members a passion for public art collections. For example, the collections of the Mauritshuis, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, Boijmans van Beuningen, Museum Vlaardingen, Historisch Museum Den Briel, Museum Prinsenhof Delft, or any of the other 121 museums supported by the Rembrandt Association. We believe it's important not only to strengthen public collections but also to protect them. The Association plays a unique role in the Dutch cultural landscape. Together with its passionate members, it is committed to protecting and strengthening our public art collections. For 135 years, it has been doing this work independently of the government, museums, or other organizations.

With approximately 1,600 members, it is one of the largest student associations in Leiden. The association has a rich history and therefore many traditions, which are still honored today. Most of the parties and events have been organized since Minerva's inception.

According to its statutes, the Foundation's purpose is "to promote the flourishing of the Leiden Student Association Minerva and the Minerva Society." Information meetings Café Chassé

Notary Mr. GHHJ (Geert) Janssen MRE MBA, an expert in wills and inheritance tax, offers free Tips & Tricks to help keep your assets (such as the equity in your home) within the family and prevent them from disappearing unnecessarily into the national treasury.

Using the story of the Van Oppen family, he will show you how creating a will and a living will (a power of attorney) can not only prevent a lot of misery but also earn you a lot of money. In our experience, many people have no idea and don't seem to realize the consequences of choices they make or, often through ignorance, don't make.

To this end, we regularly organize free information meetings for those who are interested, for which you can register.

The next information meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Café Chassé in the MaesHuys, Verploegh Chasséplein 1, 3134 BZ Vlaardingen.

You can register by email at informatiebijeenkomst@maesnotarissen.nl. Please include your first name, last name, date of birth, address, phone number, email address, and the number of people you would like to attend.

Participation is free, as is the coffee. However, space is limited. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. After receiving your registration, we will inform you whether you are eligible. If, due to overwhelming interest, you are not eligible, you will be placed on the waiting list for the next meeting a month later.

We look forward to your registration!
