Collaboration with study associations continued

The Royal Dutch Association of Civil-Law Notaries (KNB) has actively collaborated with the five notarial study associations in the Netherlands over the past academic year, organizing various activities with them. The KNB will continue these partnerships next year. To this end, several meetings will be held with the board members of these associations this summer.

During their notarial law studies, students build a solid legal foundation for their future careers. But in practice, there's so much more to it. Society is changing rapidly and becoming increasingly complex. Clients are becoming more assertive. This demands different competencies. Besides legal skills, notarial professionals also need more general skills, such as empathy and communication skills. To best prepare future notarial professionals for their future in the notary profession, the Royal Dutch Notary Association (KNB) maintains close contact with universities and notarial student associations.

Activities
For example, last academic year, the Royal Netherlands Bar Association (KNB) organized a dinner for students and small and medium-sized firms in the Central Netherlands Ring, in collaboration with the Utrecht-based study association Vevanos. Together with the Amsterdam-based study association VIVA, the professional organization organized a boat trip for students and small and medium-sized firms in the Amsterdam Ring. During the members' day of the Leiden-based study association BNSL, the KNB, in collaboration with the acting agency Kapok, provided insights into the vocational training program through practical case studies.

Universities
The KNB also ensures that students at universities can become acquainted with the notarial profession. After all, not every notarial student is an (active) member of a student association. For example, KNB chair Annerie Ploumen gives various guest lectures and provides information during open days, job fairs, and career path information sessions. This is to demonstrate what it means to be a notary and the social role a notary plays.

Futureproof
In the coming academic year, the Royal Netherlands Notary Association (KNB) will further expand its activities with universities and student associations to connect as many students and members as possible. These collaborations and activities are part of the Futurepro(o)f program, one of the key priorities of the Strategic Agenda for the Notary Profession 2020-2025. With this program, the KNB aims to position the notary profession as an attractive profession that meets the needs and demands of modern society.
