Decrease in the number of deeds in March
The number of deeds executed by notaries decreased in March compared to the same period last year. A total of 151,351 deeds were executed: a decrease of 5 percent. The number of wills (down 9 percent) and private limited company incorporations (down 4 percent) in particular lagged behind last year.
The decrease in the number of wills and incorporated private limited companies is offset by a slight increase in the number of transfer deeds: 25,026, or 1 percent more than in March of last year. The number of mortgages remained virtually unchanged, while the number of living wills decreased by 1 percent. This is evident from the deeds fact sheet (pdf) for March.
First quarter positive
In the first two months of this year, the number of deeds in all areas did increase. Therefore, the quarterly figures (pdf) continue to show a positive picture: all types of deeds were executed more frequently in the first quarter of 2024 than in the first quarter of last year. The number of transfer deeds showed the largest increase: 12 percent. This was followed by living wills (9 percent) and mortgages (6 percent).
