Emergency law for digital passage will take effect on April 24

The emergency law that allows notarial deeds to be drawn up electronically takes effect today. The law also ensures that annual meetings of legal entities can also be held remotely temporarily. The Royal Dutch Association of Civil-Law Notaries (KNB) has worked to have this incorporated into law.

The temporary law provides several provisions necessary due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Notaries can use audiovisual equipment for identification and instruction and then execute the deed. This is only permitted in situations where no other means of executing the deed are available. Moreover, the law is temporary and does not amend the Notary Act (Wna).
