Fraud case against notary Frank Oranje of Pels Rijcken shocks KNB

The Royal Dutch Association of Civil-Law Notaries (KNB) is shocked by Pels Rijcken's news that former civil-law notary Frank Oranje committed fraud.

The professional organization finds it unacceptable and incomprehensible that notaries withdraw money from their escrow accounts. This is unacceptable because fraud seriously damages the unwavering trust people must have in a notary; and it is incomprehensible because fraud like this will inevitably be exposed sooner or later.

The Royal Dutch Notary Association (KNB) believes that civil-law notaries who embezzle money from their escrow accounts have no place in the notarial profession and should be removed from office by the disciplinary court. Furthermore, victims of these types of fraud should be compensated.

Pels Rijcken stated in a statement that the rights holders will receive their money quickly.
