Less sharp decline in the number of deeds
The downward trend in the number of deeds executed in notarial services appears to be leveling off somewhat. In the first seven months of this year, there was a decline of over 10 percent compared to last year, but in August, that decline was limited to 7 percent. Notaries executed a total of 130,000 deeds last month, 9,000 fewer than in August 2022. Mortgage deeds were again the main cause of this decline.
Wills, and especially living wills, continue to perform well, with increases of 10 and 19 percent respectively. After a poor start in the first quarter, the number of new private limited companies (BVs) has continued to grow since then. Last month, that increase was 9 percent.
Mortgage deeds
Although the number of mortgage deeds was again significantly lower than in the same month last year, the decline was less pronounced than in previous months. In August, notaries executed 28 percent fewer mortgage deeds. In previous months, that percentage was usually above 40 percent. The number of transfer deeds also decreased (by 9 percent), and this percentage is also below 10 percent for the first time this year.
