Ollongren sticks to new energy label as of January 1

Minister of the Interior Kasja Ollongren wants to introduce the new energy label as of January 1, 2021. This is despite a majority in the House of Representatives previously adopting a motion to postpone the implementation. According to Ollongren, a postponement is not possible due to European regulations.

The minister has promised to launch a study into cost reduction, monitor price trends, and present an international comparison. She promises to share this with the House of Representatives in the second half of 2021.

More reliable and more expensive
Starting January 1st, advisors will visit homes to assess their sustainability. This will provide homeowners with a more accurate and comprehensive label. According to the VVD (People's Party for Freedom and Democracy), homeowners will pay significantly more as a result: the cost will increase from €10 to €190. Ollongren also believes the energy label will become more reliable. The notary must inform the seller of their legal obligation to provide the energy label.
