MIPIM 2024
From March 12th to 15th, many real estate professionals will travel by scheduled flights, charter flights, or their own jets to the fashionable city of Cannes in the South of France for the annual real estate fair MIPIM.
Since its inception in 1990, MIPIM—along with its Dutch counterpart, Provada, and its German counterpart, Expo Real in Munich—has been the real estate event where industry players gather in the spring sunshine on La Croisette, the beach, on boats, or in Mediterranean villas on the Cote d'Azur. The champagne flows freely, very freely, and almost everyone indulges in oysters and caviar.
MAES Notaries is skipping this year. In times of a housing crisis, where young people can't find affordable housing, developers and builders are barely able to add homes to the stock, and small private investors are being squeezed out of the national market by tax regulations, we don't find it very inviting to play the Sun King of Real Estate on the beaches of the South of France. We also want to give substance to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) we embrace, both in word and deed. These are seventeen goals to make the world a better place by 2030. For everyone. They serve as a global compass for challenges like poverty, education, and the climate crisis. And so, we're flying less. In the meantime, we're working hard and dedicatedly on the projects our clients have entrusted to us.
We wish all MIPIM attendees who have made a different decision, which we respect, a pleasant and successful stay and look forward to seeing each other again at Provada or sooner at our office. We hope, together with them, for a speedy recovery for the housing market patient.
