More establishments of private limited companies and foundations lead to an increase in deeds
The number of deeds in corporate practice increased sharply in the second quarter of 2021. Compared to the same period last year, the number of new private limited companies (bv's) rose by over 37 percent to 21,000. The number of new foundations increased by over 13 percent, and the delivery and certification of shares by 18 percent. Amendments to the articles of association rose by 12 percent.
Notaries executed more deeds in the second quarter of 2021 than last year. In total, they executed nearly 480,000 deeds, over 15,000 more than in the second quarter of 2020. This represents an increase of 3.4 percent. In family law, the increase in the number of deeds with prenuptial agreements is particularly striking. This number rose by 31 percent to nearly 3,400. The number of declarations of inheritance decreased by 4 percent, which is entirely attributable to the decrease in deaths due to COVID-19.
Real estate practice stable
The expected dip in real estate transactions was less severe in the past quarter. The number of transfers remained virtually unchanged from last year, at nearly 90,000. The number of mortgage deeds even increased by over 2 percent to over 113,000. However, compared to the first quarter of this year, the number of transfer deeds decreased by almost 8 percent, and the number of mortgage deeds decreased by over 2 percent.
