New form of business: the social BV

A new law aims to create a separate legal structure for entrepreneurs who are committed to social causes. This is the government's goal. If companies meet certain requirements, they can register with the Trade Register as a social limited company (BVM).

Which businesses are eligible for this new legal status? According to the government, these are social enterprises focused on areas such as climate, healthcare, education, and labor participation. "Social entrepreneurship is important, and therefore better recognition and recognition for this type of entrepreneurship is necessary," says State Secretary Mona Keijzer of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.

In addition to introducing a separate legal structure, the government's services to social enterprises will be improved. The government also believes it's important for the government to involve social enterprises in its procurement and tendering policies. The government aims to publish a preliminary draft of the legal regulation for online consultation by the end of this year.
