Notaries pass more deeds than last year

In the first quarter of 2020, 8 percent more deeds were executed by notaries than in the same quarter a year earlier. This is evident from the deeds fact sheet from the Royal Dutch Association of Civil-Law Notaries (KNB). The largest increase was seen in the number of mortgages and living wills. The number of foundations established, however, decreased.

The busiest month of the first quarter was March, as was the case in 2019. The effects of the coronavirus crisis are not yet visible here. They will become apparent after the second quarter. However, 17,500 more deeds were executed in March this year than a year earlier. The number of mortgages rose by 22 percent in March compared to the same month last year, and wills by 12 percent.
