Notary passes fewer deeds in November

Notaries executed 152,000 deeds in November. That's 14,500 fewer than in the same month last year. The number of transfer deeds and mortgage deeds in particular fell sharply, by 29 and 13 percent, respectively. The number of deeds for establishing a private limited company also fell sharply, by 11 percent. However, the number of wills and living wills rose again.

It's striking that wills and living wills are very popular this year. Each month, that number is increasing compared to the same month in 2021. Last month, 29,228 wills were drawn up. That's over 1,000 more than last year, a 4 percent increase. The number of living wills increased even more sharply. In November 2021, notaries executed nearly 17,000 living wills. Last month, that number was almost 18,500, an 8 percent increase.

Trend continues
The trend in these figures is expected to continue. This is evident from a survey of civil-law notaries regarding the number of new cases they have received in recent weeks. In family practice, the number of new cases has increased for over 30 percent of respondents. For 50 percent, the number has remained the same. Of the respondents, 15 percent reported an increase of less than 10 percent, and 14 percent reported an increase between 10 and 25 percent.

Property
Of the respondents, 66 percent reported a decrease in the number of new cases in real estate. For a third, the decrease was between 10 and 25 percent. Eighteen percent reported a decrease of less than 10 percent. For almost 10 percent of respondents, the decrease was between 25 and 50 percent.

Business practice
The number of new cases in business practice has remained the same for 35 percent of respondents and increased for 35 percent. Thirteen percent reported a decrease. Of those who reported an increase, 10 percent reported an increase of less than 10 percent, and 20 percent reported an increase of between 10 and 25 percent.
