Number of deeds passed increases slightly

Notaries executed a total of 132,639 deeds in January. This is 3 percent more than in January 2023. Wills, mortgage deeds, and transfer deeds were the most frequently signed. A significant number of people also signed a living will.

The number of mortgage deeds increased by over 1,000, and the number of transfer deeds by over 3,500. This is evident from the fact sheet of the Royal Dutch Association of Civil-Law Notaries (pdf) .

Increase in wills and living wills
The number of wills increased slightly by 700 to 26,925. The number of living wills rose sharply again, rising from 16,352 to 18,181, compared to the 2023 figures.

Slightly more limited companies and foundations
The number of new private limited companies (BVs) was 5,295 in January, a few hundred more than the same month last year. The number of foundations established rose slightly, from 415 to 452.
