S. (Sophie) Brouwer

Sophie completed her HBO (Higher Professional Education) law degree in Rotterdam and is currently studying notarial law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam). You'll find Sophie regularly not only at 020, but also in Rotterdam (Hoek van Holland) where she grew up, in Antwerp with her friend, and at our office in Vlaardingen.

Sophie works at least two days a week as a notary clerk at our office, and even more if her study schedule allows. We're quite impressed with how Sophie so skillfully balances her working life, her student life, and her internationally oriented social life.

Sophie is part of the Family and Inheritance Law practice group and also regularly staffs our hospitality desk, where she will greet you warmly upon arrival with her characteristic enthusiasm.

Sophie says...

I'm studying notarial law at VU University Amsterdam. While a sound theoretical and legal understanding is essential for effective notarial practice, I also hope to further develop my client care and attention as a working student. After all, it's not about deeds, but about people. What motivates them? What are their concerns? What do they consider important? What do they expect from me, and how can I exceed those expectations? So, I'm learning to listen carefully. And to observe carefully. Without judgment. What is being said. And, more importantly, what isn't being said. And how do I use that information to make that client a satisfied and grateful one? A compliment from a client is more valuable to me than the income I earn here to pay for my textbooks.
