VNO-NCW Prinsjescabaret in Diligentia
Entrepreneurs have lost faith in politics and government en masse. Nearly 90 percent are dissatisfied with the stability and reliability, and 80 percent believe politicians pay insufficient attention to them, according to the annual Budget Day Survey conducted by VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland, conducted by KiesKompas.
Nearly 30 percent rate the Dutch economy as poor to very poor. This is double the number in 2024. More than 6 in 10 entrepreneurs consider the business climate to be (very) poor, and 64 percent don't expect it to improve in the coming year. Only 11 percent are positive, according to the survey of a representative group of over 4,000 entrepreneurs.
When asked what a new cabinet absolutely must address, regulatory burden was cited most frequently (50 percent). Lowering employer contributions, improving the functioning of the labor market, resolving the nitrogen problem, and expanding the power grid were also frequently mentioned.
While VNO-NCW West traditionally discusses the budget and political developments with its members at various Millions Breakfasts the day after Prinsjesdag (Budget Day), on Sunday evening we collectively reviewed the political events of the past political year in a hilarious way at Diligentia.
Prinsjescabaret ambassadors Sanne Wallis de Vries and Patrick Nederkoorn took us through the past political year, guided by the news. Each in their own way. It was exceptionally witty and spot-on.
