Ambitions
Coach Pieter-Jan Postma describes the ambitions as follows: “With this campaign, we want to show that dreams can come true if you demonstrate entrepreneurship, dare to be innovative, and show courage. Many thought it was impossible when we started with a small group and a lot of ambition. But we succeeded; we're all here together. We have our own boat, we have a team of eight super-talented top sailors, and we have a broad base of organizations and companies behind us. In my opinion, this is the way to run a contemporary and future-proof sailing campaign. The Netherlands is a small country, but in sailing, we are big. If we work together and are occasionally willing to step outside our comfort zone, we can create fantastic campaigns. Campaigns that have the potential to compete for the podium. Whether that's in the Youth America's Cup, the America's Cup, an Ocean Race, or the new offshore Olympic sailing discipline. If we do it together as the Netherlands, we can achieve so much.”
69F; what a boat!
Team DutchSail – Janssen de Jong sails the 69F. This one-design class, with a sail area of 40 square meters, is 6.9 meters long. The beam of the boat is 2.1 meters without foils and 4.6 meters with them. With a draft of 1.7 meters and a displacement of only 350 kg, the boat easily reaches speeds of up to 25 knots per hour, approximately 40 to 50 km/h.
