Amy Winehouse at the MAES

No will
Friday, July 23, marked ten years since British soul and jazz singer Amy Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning. Although she had died a hundred times, she never left a will.

Amy at the MAES
Television director Arjan Vlakveld interviewed her for over half an hour on camera in the summer of 2004 – the only one in the Netherlands. He incorporated the footage into the documentary Amy Winehouse in the Netherlands. He interviewed her, as we saw Saturday evening on NPO 3 in our region, sitting on the quay at the MAES canal, with Ben van Berkel's "Zwaan" in the background.

Now 10 years later
Blake Fielder-Civil, Amy Winehouse's ex-husband, claimed £1 million (€1.1 million) from her estate after the singer's death, The Sun reports. It appears her parents, now 10 years later, are facing a legal battle with their daughter's ex, who claims he is entitled to a share of the inheritance.

The two met in 2005 and married two years later, only to divorce in 2009. Blake is seen as a negative influence on Amy. The singer started using drugs after she married him. Amy's father has nothing good to say about Blake. "He's not responsible for Amy's death. He is responsible for her drug addiction. He introduced her to crack and heroin," Winehouse said. "She loved him, and he made her dependent," he said previously. The family also calls Blake a profiteer.

Good for each other
Avoid arguments at the coffin or 10 years later. Make a will in time. Get your affairs in order. And be good to each other.
