Dispute Committee makes more rulings

Last year, the Disputes Committee issued 49 rulings regarding notarial services. That's 3 more than in 2019. The committee received 75 new complaints, 11 fewer than in 2019.

In 2020, 19 of the 49 complaints in which a decision was made were (partially) upheld. This is fewer than in 2019, when this applied to just over half (24) of the 46 decisions. Number of complaints
In recent years, the number of complaints filed has fluctuated between 75 and 90. In 2018, 79 complaints were filed, and in 2017, 89. The reason for last year's lower number of disputes is difficult to determine. It could be due to the coronavirus crisis, or perhaps there were simply fewer disputes between notaries and clients. This is despite the record number of deeds executed last year.

Dispute Committee
Since March 2013, the notary's office has been affiliated with the Disputes Committee. Clients can submit disputes here regarding the quality of the notary's services, the amount of invoices, and claim damages of up to €10,000. Notaries can also appeal to the Disputes Committee for outstanding invoices.
