Home buyers want less paperwork

Many homebuyers find the paperwork involved in buying a house a hassle. It's unclear what they need to submit and when. They want a secure online environment that outlines the steps they've already taken and still need to take. They also want to be able to submit the necessary documents. This is according to research conducted by Motivaction, commissioned by Zorgeloos Vastgoed. The Royal Dutch Association of Civil-Law Notaries (KNB) is participating in this initiative.

Motivaction has conducted research into the homebuyer journey, both first-time buyers and those moving up the property ladder. Both parties find the process of securing financing confusing and request a clear overview. Many things are new to first-time buyers, making them uncertain and daunting. Good advice helps them through this phase. First-time buyers therefore need a reliable and objective partner who can answer their questions. Twenty-one percent consult a notary for advice during the financing and purchase process.

Distrust
Homeowners moving up the property ladder experience less tension and uncertainty. However, they still harbor distrust toward some service providers and comparison websites. They need an independent party that prioritizes the buyer's interests. Of this group, 13 percent consult a notary for advice during the financing and purchase process.

Online environment
The research firm recommends using an online dashboard. This allows homebuyers to see their current stage of the process and upcoming deadlines. Provide an option for asking questions and notify them when something is expected of them, according to Motivaction.
