In memoriam

In memoriam

On December 8, 2022, former civil-law notary JPF Kooijman, one of the founders of the former Kooijman Lambert partnership, a predecessor of MAES civil-law notaries, passed away. Our thoughts are with those who loved him.

The partners of the aforementioned partnership had already decided to end their collaboration in 2013, after which most of the notaries gradually separated. After all, there was no longer any affectio societatis . Notary Mr. EM (Ed) Bijster continued his practice independently from that point on under the name MAES Notarissen, also trading under the name Basisnotarissen Rijnmond.

Having reached the age of 70, Mr. Bijster retired some time ago as a civil-law notary. The protocol and other notarial documents of former civil-law notary Mr. Bijster have been assigned to civil-law notary Mr. GHHJ (Geert) Janssen MRE MBA. The latter is the sole shareholder of MAES Civil-Law Notaries. Under his leadership, MAES Civil-Law Notaries has experienced spectacular growth and development in recent years. This is evident, but not limited to, from client and peer reviews, employee satisfaction, and financial results.

"We consider these results a boost, but above all, an encouragement to continue doing our utmost as a team in the coming year to practice our profession as effectively as possible and to serve our clients impeccably, diligently, and with integrity. We remain fully committed to this," notary Janssen confided.

We are moving

Until March 1, 2023, MAES Notarissen was contractually bound to the offices of its predecessor, MAES Notarissen, due to the office building. However, MAES Notarissen has since terminated this legal relationship. Our office is growing rapidly, and that means our housing needs have changed. We simply needed more square footage. But above all, we wanted a higher-quality and more sustainable office environment for our employees and clients. Therefore, we will be moving our office to Verploegh Chasséplein 1 in Vlaardingen on March 1, 2023.

Decent place

We can accommodate our clients and employees in the detached office villa on Verploegh Chasséplein in the best possible way. For example, with free on-site parking and charging stations for electric cars and e-bikes. We're within walking distance of the Vlaardingen Oost metro station. City and regional buses stop at the bus stop on the square. How convenient is that?

We can now also better separate the public areas (our hospitality desk, the lounge, and the reception areas) from the workspaces. Our guests can feel welcome and at ease in the public areas. After all, a visit to a notary is already exciting enough for many visitors.

With our new offices, we can offer our employees, who dedicate themselves every day to providing impeccable customer service, what they deserve: one of the best workplaces in the region, with every conceivable amenity that can contribute to their job satisfaction, even when they work remotely (partly from home).

We can also welcome you, by appointment, at the business centers of NoMA House in Amsterdam's Zuidas, or at the World Trade Center Rotterdam or the World Trade Center The Hague.

But we're not confined to our office. We're mobile. And flexible. Like true business nomads. We go where the business is . We're happy to come to you, upon request and in consultation. This applies to both business and private clients. And for private clients, especially in cases where you're not mobile, for example, due to advanced age, or admission to a hospital, nursing home, or hospice.

Ready for the future

Our office space at Oosthavenkade 39 has not met our requirements as occupants for some time now. The foundation has subsided dramatically, and the building is in very poor condition. The owner has never been willing or able to invest in improvements. In its current state, the building cannot even meet the minimum Energy Label C requirement. Energy costs are unaffordable in this building. The woodwork is rotten. If you want to keep the building as an office, you'll have to invest so much that, with current high construction costs, inflation, and interest rates, there will be no real return in the coming decades. We, however, value sustainability and know that due to the energy transition, we really need to take action. That's what we're doing at Verploegh Chasséplein. We are therefore fully prepared for the future.

"It's the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
'Til we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The circle of life"
