Information requests Central Will Register now also online
Does my deceased father have a will? People can now also submit this question digitally to the Central Register of Wills (CTR). This makes it much faster and easier for consumers to apply for a CTR in many cases.
The new CTR web portal can be accessed via notaris.nl ( https://www.notaris.nl/bij-overlijden/centraal-testamentenregister ). Consumers enter some information here, and the system searches for a matching will. If there's a match, it's immediately visible in the portal. The information for the notary who drafted the will and the current notary will also appear. Prefer a local notary? That's also possible. A shortcut allows individuals to search directly online for an office in the area. If there's no match, it doesn't mean there's no will at all. To be sure, consumers can submit a written request to the CTR or contact a notary.
Not everything online
It remains possible to submit a CTR application in writing. Persons who died before 1976, do not live in the Netherlands, or died abroad are not found in the online application. These applications must be submitted in writing. The same applies to administrators or trustees who wish to request information about a living person. They must also submit this in writing. Someone who wants to know whether they have made a will cannot check this online or in writing. They must visit a local notary or visit the CTR in The Hague.
