Moving notice

We are moving!

MAES Notarissen will be moving to the MaesHuys, Verploegh Chasséplein 1, 3134 BZ Vlaardingen, on March 1, 2023. All our other contact details remain unchanged. This building previously housed an ING Bank branch.

Why?

Our office is growing. And that means our housing needs have changed. We simply needed more square footage. But first and foremost, we wanted a higher-quality and more sustainable office environment for the benefit of our employees and clients.

We can accommodate our clients and employees in the detached office villa on Verploegh Chasséplein in the best possible way. For example, with free on-site parking and charging stations for electric cars and e-bikes. We're within walking distance of the Vlaardingen Oost metro station. City and regional buses stop at the bus stop on the square. How convenient is that?

We can now also better separate the public areas (our hospitality desk, the lounge, and the reception areas) from the workspaces. Our guests can feel welcome and at ease in the public areas. After all, a visit to a notary is already exciting enough for many visitors.

With our new offices, we can offer our employees, who dedicate themselves every day to providing impeccable customer service, what they deserve: one of the finest workplaces in the region, with every conceivable amenity that can contribute to their job satisfaction, even when they work remotely (partly from home). Our workstations are designed to meet the individual user's needs and the tasks they perform. We chose the ergonomic Aeron office chair from Herman Miller for its comfort and support. Desks are electronically height-adjustable, allowing us to work while standing. We have climate control in the office, ensuring we stay cool year-round. All our employees have dual-screen setups. This provides them with a better overview, allows them to switch gears more quickly, and works more efficiently. For telephony, we use the Wildix OneSpace telephony platform, which is linked to Notarisdossier, our CRM package. This allows us to make calls, video calls, chat, and quickly follow up on tasks like callback requests, all from our screen, with a single touch of a button. Our staff members have a wireless headset, allowing them to conveniently operate the keyboard, move around, and continue talking to you. Our building will soon feature cozy seating areas, meeting rooms, modern restrooms, reprographics rooms, concentration areas, a modern kitchen with all catering facilities, and a large reception area perfect for networking events, training sessions, or seminars.

What happens to the office building you leave behind?

Our office space at Oosthavenkade 39 has not met our requirements as occupants for some time now. The foundation has subsided dramatically, and the building is in very poor condition. The owner has never been willing or able to invest in improvements. In its current state, the building cannot even meet the minimum Energy Label C requirement. Energy costs are unaffordable in this building. The woodwork is rotten. If you want to keep the building as an office, you'll have to invest so much that, with current high construction costs, inflation, and interest rates, there will be no real return on it in the coming decades. We, however, value sustainability and know that due to the energy transition, we really have to take action. We are doing that at Verploegh Chasséplein.

Have you considered leaving Vlaardingen?

Not for a moment. It's never even been an issue. It's incredibly difficult to find suitable office space in Vlaardingen. The supply is very limited. All in all, our search took two years. We even asked the mayor and the municipality for help, but they couldn't do anything for us since the Didam ruling. We understand and respect that. We could, of course, have looked for office space outside Vlaardingen. But we didn't. After all, we believe very strongly in the future of Vlaardingen. A municipality centrally located in the Rotterdam-The Hague Metropolitan Region. We believe in that entire region. A region with challenges and ambitions. We are devoted to this region and feel a connection and affinity with its residents. We are here to serve them. We are willing to invest in that. A notary is also legally required to have an office in the place of business specified in their appointment. In our case, that is Vlaardingen. Of course, we could change our location and establish offices in Rotterdam, The Hague, Schiedam, Maassluis, or Naaldwijk, just to name a few. This is far more lucrative for a notary, as the notary fees in those locations are generally much higher. But that certainly doesn't benefit the people both inside and outside these areas in our region. Quite the opposite. And we are there for those people too. We are loyal and supportive. We want to be there for them. For everyone within the Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Area. We strive for continuity of our services by carefully developing mutually beneficial, harmonious, and sustainable relationships with our clients, suppliers, and stakeholders. Whether it concerns purchasing your first home, ensuring your loved ones are well cared for in the event of an unexpected death, managing a construction project, or mitigating business risks, we understand the value of being good to each other. Together, we achieve more than alone.

I thought you do a lot online. So why invest in housing?

To save costs for our clients, we already do a lot digitally. Online via your phone, tablet, or desktop. We call, video conference, email, and chat with our clients. And they with us. Every client gets their own secure digital vault: the online My Notary File, where we share information and communicate with each other. It's child's play. But there are also many people who have absolutely no interest in computers and technology. We're primarily interested in the client (him/her/them). Therefore, we want to be able to physically sit with them in a state-of-the-art office environment. To listen to them. To hear about their goals, their biggest concerns, and how we can contribute to solutions professionally. Starting March 1, 2023, this will be possible in our new office at Verploegh Chasséplein 1 in Vlaardingen, which used to be an ING Bank branch, even better than before. Can you be visited at multiple locations?

We can also accommodate you, by appointment, at the business centers of NoMA House in Amsterdam's Zuidas business district, or at the World Trade Center Rotterdam or The Hague. We offer high-quality accommodations and the use of their facilities.

But we're not confined to our office. We're mobile. And flexible. Like true business nomads. We go where the business is . We're happy to come to you, upon request and in consultation. This applies to both business and private clients. And for private clients, especially in cases where you're not mobile, for example, due to advanced age, or admission to a hospital, nursing home, or hospice.

All that growth is great, but what about sustainability? Aren't you putting too much of a burden on the climate with the growth of your activities?

Not all civil-law notaries are created equal. We are building a company where our professional and ethical standards, client satisfaction, and job satisfaction are paramount. We are convinced that we can grow as a company by being good to each other, while respecting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) formulated by the United Nations. For example, by investing in sustainable housing. With this, we aim to contribute to an inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable society, so that this has a positive impact on our prosperity. In the city, in the region, in our country, in Europe, and worldwide.

Will there be a housewarming party, an open day or something like that?

Naturally, we will all be celebrating this move together. It marks a historic moment in the history of the notary's office, which has been located here for generations and where we have collectively gained centuries of experience. The building has a space where larger groups can share knowledge while enjoying food and drinks. We will do this in phases, by invitation only. With clients, but also with declarants such as mortgage advisors, financial planners, bankers, real estate agents, accountants, tax advisors, lawyers, investors, developers, service clubs, charities, and more. Just as we have done in the past with inheritance law meetings at the Van der Valk Hotel Schiedam and the Delta Hotel in Vlaardingen.
