Number of registered wills increased in March
The number of wills registered with the Royal Dutch Association of Civil-Law Notaries (KNB) rose by over 10 percent in March compared to the same month a year earlier. This is evident from entries in the Central Register of Wills (CTR). This year, there were approximately 28,000. In 2019, there were almost 25,500.
In the entire first quarter of 2020, almost 5 percent more wills were registered in the CTR than in the same quarter last year. Over 75,500 in 2020 compared to almost 72,500 in 2019.
Poll among notaries
The Royal Dutch Bar Association (KNB) conducted a poll on the private section of its website among notary offices about the current demand for wills. Forty percent of the 300 voters said they'd seen an increase recently. The majority reported an increase of up to 25 percent. Forty-three percent of participants saw no difference compared to previous years, and 17 percent even experienced a decrease.
