KNB conference programme 'The power of resilience'

October 7th is the day of the KNB annual conference! This year's event is titled "The Power of Resilience." The profession can be demanding for everyone involved. How can you be resilient and adapt to these challenges? A diverse program hosted by the MECC in Maastricht will provide participants with insights and tools to help them achieve this. Registration is now open.

Many members experience pressure due to their gatekeeping role or disciplinary and supervisory rules, but also from demanding clients who sometimes even want to handle things incorrectly. These are all situations in which resilience is essential. Because this doesn't always come naturally, the Royal Dutch Bar Association (KNB) is specifically focusing on "being and becoming resilient" this year. The KNB conference will focus on undermining, dealing with difficult clients, and digital resilience.

Undermining
In the morning plenary session, Maaike van Tuyll, Deputy Director-General for Undermining at the Ministry of Justice and Security, neuroscientist Victor Kallen, and KNB chair Annerie Ploumen, moderated by Rick Nieman, will discuss undermining and the role of civil-law notaries. These topics include recognizing and preventing criminal schemes and having the right tools to do so, as well as the personal impact of these situations. How do you fulfill your role when feelings of stress and anxiety are involved? What can you, your firm, or the professional organization do?

Digital resilience
In the afternoon, Lokke Moerel, member of the Cyber Security Council and professor of Global ICT Law, will discuss digital resilience. What are the current developments globally/in Europe, and what does this mean for notaries and individual notary offices? Throughout the day, there will be two rounds of 11 different breakout sessions exploring all these topics in more depth. The day will conclude with a presentation by an expert in crime and communication related to security and counterterrorism.
